The fleets of buses have been installed with passive RFID tags and the drivers and the mechanics have been given handheld RFID interrogators for reading these tags. Before the start of the shift, the drivers inspect their respective buses to ensure that everything is in order but before this inspection used to be conducted manually. The school is using EVIR system from Zonar Systems for this purpose.
Yellow buttons installed on the buses have RFID chips and the software on the handheld interrogators guides the drivers of the buses regarding questions about the mechanical system of the vehicles and also instructs the drivers to conduct certain checks. Any concerns of the driver can be entered in the interrogator and they can also request for another bus in the event that particular bus is not fit for a ride.
The results are pretty accurate as drivers are made to conduct thorough checks in order to ensure that everything is perfect. I hope that from now on parents will worry less about their children whenever they go to school.
