Your car keys will now foot your bill
Filed in archive Contactless Payment Systems on March 21, 2009

A man comes to a departmental store in his swanky BMW and shops around the store for his daily needs. When he approaches the counter to pay for his purchases the executive on the other side asks him as to how he would like to pay for them and he coolly hands over his car key which is read to pay for the bills and within a matter of time the person walks away with his purchases.
This is something which you might soon witness happening at stores across the globe. Your ordinary car key which up till now was responsible for keyless entry will serve as a payment option too. In order to make life comfortable for its customers, BMW along with NXP has created a smart key prototype so that you can make your purchases sans cash or plastic card.
So have you already started dreaming about this smart key? Hang on, you will have to wait for a while before you can lay your hands on it as its still in the research stage but till the time its not out continue your dependence on the traditional means of payment.
