World's First Multi-Frequency Multi-Protocol RFID Reader/Writer developed by NEC
Though the RFID market is progressing quite well but still it has been facing certain roadblocks in its expansion because even though a variety of RFID tags with various frequencies and protocols are available but still a number of companies were missing a dedicated reader/writer for all these RFID tags.

I think now the companies will get what they had been missing for a long time - a multi RFID reader/ writer which can read and write any RFID tag information. NEC has unveiled what it calls the world's first multi RFID reader/ writer which supports three major tag frequencies along with world's most used protocols. It supports two protocols and three frequencies - 13.56 MHz, 2.45 GHz and UHF band. In case you are worried what would happen in case a new protocol is introduced in the market you don't need to worry since this device allows installation of new network software in case a new RFID protocol is unveiled and you would not be required to buy a new reader/writer every time. With plans for dedicated LSI to be commercialized in 2008 the RFID market would further witness reduction in size and costs of multi reader/ writer. So now companies have a lot to choose from.
