What Did RFID Smart Labels USA teach?
More than 500 delegates from 31 countries attended RFID Smart Labels USA which generated a host of relevant information. IDTech Ex, who sponsored the event, has summarized some of the important lessons which were learnt from the speakers at the event.

G.E and the U.S Department of defense have stated their requirement for a single interrogator that can work at different frequencies. Different frequency systems need to be used depending on the products tagged and the desired range, difficulties encountered etc and so far HF LF, UHF and active RFID have been implemented but still interrogator manufacturers have a long way to go.

Gillette's new five blade razor system, Fusion has become the first product where RFID has been applied to all the product cases and pallets. These razors are being shipped to 400 locations which have RFID systems.

Strong interest was shown in chipless technologies which included users who seeked a cheaper alternative to silicon chip tags but also recognized other potential advantages such as flexibility, thinness, damage tolerance and eventually printing directly onto products and packaging.
