The Tweeting RFID Cat Door
Seems RFID is all set to make twitter a viable business, at least this is what it seems from this RFID Twitter Cat Door. It is the brainchild of a cat owner cum programmer who was fed up of neighborhood cats coolly walking into his garage and chomping on his cat food. Using a combination of RFID collar, cat doors and Twitter account the cat owner is now able to ensure that only and only his pets are able to enter and leave his premises and a tweet happens automatically every time his cat enters or leaves the premises.

Let me tell you how the Tweeting Cat Door works. RFID tags have been attached to the collar of his pet and whenever it comes within the proximity of the door the tag is read by the RFID reader and only if it has the permission the servo will unlock the cat door. Every time the cat enters or leaves the premises a picture along with twitter message is sent to twitter.com. In case you are interested in creating such cat door for your home too Ion will be posting further details on how you could create one for yourself too.

In one of my earlier posts I had talked about pet flaps, check here and here but the one I have talked above is a bit different 1) you will be able to create at your home at minimal cost and 2) you have got the added functionality of twitter (A micro blogging service)

If you feel interested you can follow the cats on Twitter out here.
