The Retail ROI Calculator at RFID in Fashion 2009
Filed in archive Special Events on July 23, 2009

Check this!! If you plan to attend RFID in Fashion conference and exhibition to be held in New York from August 12 to 13 then you will be receiving a Retail ROI Calculator. It's an interactive spreadsheet which comes with supporting notes enabling attendees to assess their prospective return from investment after deployment of RFID for tracking of accessories, apparel and footwear in stores.
As per Mark Roberti, Founder and Editor, RFID Journal:
Over the past few months, we have gathered data from RFID deployments in apparel and retail around the world, and used these to build a calculator that will enable retailers to determine whether it makes sense to launch a pilot. You can run what-if scenarios, then plug actual pilot numbers into the calculator to determine if a rollout would deliver an ROI
Using the RFID Retail Calculator, retail firms could enter the average number of units on sales floor and back room along with average unit cost, retail margins and inventory turns. You can also enter the number of hours put in by staff members for receiving goods, conducting cycle counts and stocking up product inventory. Depending on the information, the calculator could be used for estimating the reduced labor costs based on savings achieved by pilots and deployments. Before deployment of RFID technology, using this calculator you could estimate the possible increase in sales depending on improved on-shelf availability and inventory accuracy. This would enable companies to get a ballpark figure of hardware, software and integration costs based on their store layout and operations.
Seems like a nice tool to me which you could use to estimate all the factors involved before deployment of RFID technology in your operations.
