The Battery Free RFID Tags from GE
Filed in archive Tags and Readers on October 16, 2008

This is something which will give a big push to RFID technology!! Here comes the RFID sensor from GE Global Research which is not dependant on on-board batteries for power supply rather it draws power wirelessly from hand held reading device.
This sensor design from GE puts into practice the usual RFID tags which are coated with chemically sensitive film ensuring diverse response from the reader which leads to activation of sensor antenna and collection of response data parameters.
The GE multi-detection sensors are available in sizes smaller than a penny and can emerge as a low cost option for food packaging, security, health care industry to name a few.
I think with reduced prices and sizes it would surely increase the adoption of RFID technology across several industries. Best of luck RFID!!!

Nothing new at all here... I can't see any technological breakthrough in this product as the article author seems to think.
