Tag Tracking and Data Analytics

Filed in archive Software Applications by Anita Campbell on December 6, 2004

Recently I've been hearing about RFID data Analyticslinks.

One of the many benefits of RFID is the huge volume of data available to companies about their inventory that was not available before. Tracking and analyzing that data is a whole new area of software application that didn't exist before -- certainly not on any sizeable scale.

RFID analytics is different from middleware. This is not just about getting tag data out of a reader and into the correct fields in an ERP system.

Data analytics is a new type of software application that analyzes RFID data. It's really about understanding that data and getting business value from it.

One startup, T3Ci, is working in the field of RFID data analytics. They've already got experience working with the Wal-Mart 8 (eight key Wal-Mart suppliers) helping them get value from inventory data.

It will be interesting to see how this new application area develops.
