SuiPo: The RFID enabled posters
Filed in archive Implementation on May 22, 2007
These colorful posters on your left may pass off as some ordinary posters but actually they are not. These are RFID posters which were spotted by Konomi at the JR Shinjuku Station in Japan. Shinjuku is regarded as the second largest station in the world and probably would attract the attention of large number of passengers which frequent it daily.

These RFID posters are referred to as SuiPo and I believe that SuiPo implies turning static posters into interactive marketing tool. Here the rfid readers are placed between the posters. Interested people can flash their RFID Tickets at the posters and relevant ads would be delivered to their cell phones.

On the other hand people who are new to this concept should link the ID of their RFID tickets with the email address of their cell phones using kiosk terminal. Certainly this will help in taking RFID among the masses and increase their knowledge with regards to this technology.

Yes RFID in posters should really take off, especially posters for events requiring ticket purchase at a specific url.
Here's a video showing use of an RFID poster read by an NFC - Near Field Communications or High Frequency RFID cellphone.
