How about a tag which includes the best of everything? Here is an intelligent hybrid tag from Numerex and Savi Technology which is a combo of satellite communications, active RFID and GPS technologies. This intelligent tag is good enough to track goods anywhere within the global supply chain.

Dubbed as ST-694 GlobalTag, this intelligent tag can switch automatically between active RFID and satellite communications and at the end of the day one can check the data using single back end system. Here the motion sensor does the trick and in case motion is detected for at least half hour it automatically switches to satellite communications mode.

The tag is still in the testing stage and it will be a few months before it's launched in the market. As far as the pricing is concerned that too would be disclosed at a later stage. Till then wait with baited breath for this 'intelligent' tag to hit the market.
