Sony Bravia Televisions gets the company of RFID
Sony has come out with its latest range of high-definition televisions and you must surely be scratching your head and wondering why it gets a mention out here and before you run out of patience I would like to tell you that these Sony televisions are RFID enabled.

Launched under the Bravia series these LCD televisions would take you one step further and make it easier for you to rent movies from the comforts of your living room. These LCD high definition televisions come equipped with an electronic money card reader which can be used for ordering pay per view content.

This is what the Sony spokesperson had to say about this new RFID television:

With the new function of electronic money, pay-per-view programs can be more user-friendly than before when credit card numbers were entered by pushing the keys of the remote control. People would prefer electronic money to credit cards, as the amount of one payment is usually very small.

The only drawback at this point of time is that the television is targeted towards the Japanese market and the European and North American markets will have to wait for it as use of electronic money has still not caught the fancy of consumers out there.
