SmartCode breaks the Five Cent RFID Tag Barrier
Filed in archive Tags and Readers on May 4, 2006
SmartCode Corp has made available RFID inlays at a historical price of five cents per tag. Isn't it cheap but hold on here is the catch, one needs to order hundred million tags in order to avail this fabulous offer.
Certainly for a long time it was being thought that this barrier needed to broken in order to ensure a speedier adoption of RFID and ensure quicker return for the adopters. For those who cannot afford to buy in such large quantities, SmartCode has set prices of 7.2 and 7.5 cents per tag for orders of ten and one million units respectively.
I was just wondering is it the announcement of doomsday for barcode?
