OK, I admit the title of this post is slightly misleading.

Yes, it is true that SkyeTek, the maker of RFID reader technology, has a new blog. To be precise, Sean Loving, the Chief Technology Officer of SkyeTek, is the one who writes the blog, called Loving RFID (don't you just "love" the play on words?).

And yes, it is also true that SkyeTek got another round of funding about a month ago. The company closed an $8 Million Series B round, the proceeds of which it will use to increase R&D and expand its sales and marketing. The investors are existing investor Appian Ventures and new investors Palomar Ventures and Sequel Venture Partners.

The investment is a good sign, showing confidence in the RFID industry -- and in the company. The company describes its product line as "[t]he world's smallest HF reader module and the disaggregation of the reader into software and hardware components." They also offer a tiny RFID reader that is the diameter of a United States quarter coin.

Somehow, though, I really don't think there was cause and effect between starting the blog and getting funding.

We're ecstatic to see another RFID company blogging -- one of the few doing so. We look forward to getting great insights in a conversational tone in the blog. Welcome to the blogosphere, Sean and SkyeTek.
