RFID-enabled Mirror can fulfil your shopping desires
Filed in archive Companies on September 5, 2007
Whenever I have gone for shopping to various stores I have seen that most of the customers don't want to be hassled by the sales staff since they want to keep their shopping a private affair. Mi-Tu, an upscale fashion retailer in Hong Kong is using RFID enabled mirrors and electronic displays which will enable customers to have a look at the wide range of in store inventory while they are trying clothes at the store.
Customers have found this RFID system useful and they have witnessed increase in sales to the tune of thirty percent. Smart Retail System from Schmidt is being used at Mi-Tu stores which include smart dressing mirrors equipped with EPC Gen 2 RFID antennas and interrogators along with LCD screen in trial room.

This RFID system is expected to offer a personalized shopping experience to customers which they are always on a look out for when they visit such stores for shopping. On entering the trial room and holding the tagged item in front of the mirror the details of the item are captured where the tag number of the item is matched with other items and images of corresponding items are displayed and as a result customers can get a recommendation for piece of clothing in their hand. Customers can then press the prompt button and inform the salesperson if they would like to try some other item.
This makes shopping a fun and simple experience for the customers who get to choose the best clothing for themselves without wasting much of their time and retail stores get important data which can be used for furthering their sales strategies. Thank god now I will now only get in touch with the salesman only when I want to all due to RFID.
