RFID Tribe has come out with a new survey on the RFID workforce. It shows North America leading the world in RFID-related employment -- today. But in ten years the projections have Asia clearly in the lead.

Here is a quote from the report:
Today, North America leads the regions in RFID employment. But as Asian nations adopt the technology, the Asian RFID workforce will surpass North America's RFID workforce. Asia is comprised of goods exporting nations and countries offering outsourced manufacturing. As a result, Asia's RFID workforce will primarily be RFID technology end users (rather than RFID vendors). Asia's RFID vendor activity will revolve around the manufacturing of RFID tags and RFID equipment. Additionally, Asia's RFID workforce will be focused on manufacturing applications for RFID technology -- using RFID in manufacturing applications for goods bound to other nations. The above Asia growth assumes that China adopts the ISO RFID standard ....Mark Johnson, who runs RFID Tribe, was kind enough to provide this short extract of the report for the benefit of readers of the RFID Weblog. Thank you Mark! And nice job.

I think by that time most if not all IT developments including RFID will be moved either to india or china. I suppose in 2016, wages won't that be that cheap anymore and these countries would be quite developed already.
