RFID will change the technique for measuring blood sugar levels for diabetes patients forever

Filed in archive Companies by gautam on September 30, 2007

If you are a diabetes patient who is fed up of pricking your finger to draw blood each time you want to measure your sugar levels then you need to read this. All this will soon become a thing of the past as Verichiplinks has entered into an agreement with RECEPTORS for developing prototype renewable glucose sensors to be used along with implantable bio sensing RFID microchip for measuring glucose levels in the human body. The prototype is expected to come up within six to twelve months.

In this case the implantable bio sensor chip comprises of passive transponders, a sensor and an integrated circuitry therefore one can scan it without pain for checking their blood sugar levels. The chip transmits the data back to the wireless scanner displaying the glucose levels. I feel it could be a good device for diabetes patient who need to check their blood sugar frequently and fear every time they have to prick their finger to draw out blood for this purpose since not only it can be painful but is a slow process too. All this is expected to change within a matter of few months with RFID.
