Filed in archive Market Size by Anita Campbell on September 8, 2004
If you think RFID will make waves in the United States, Europe and Japan, it's barely a ripple compared to the expected use of RFID in china.

Asia Times reports that China, the factory to the world, is heavily involved in RFID technology. The market for RFID technology to use in China or by Chinese manufacturers will be huge.

Wal-Mart's RFID mandate reaches all the way to China, and it is estimated that Chinese suppliers to Wal-Mart will use 5 trillion tags annually within the next two years.

China has already announced plans to use RFID in a national ID card program. And they will use RFID to track blood bags for avoiding HIV and hepatitis infections.

China also plans to showcase RFID technology at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Watch China if you want to see the true potential market size of RFID.
