RFID to battle out fake certificates in Indian corporate world
Filed in archive Implementation on August 6, 2007
When I came across this news I was reminded of an incident which occurred a few years back in India when employees in some of the reputed IT companies out there were fired as they had forged the certificates they had submitted to the company for getting the job and some of them had been working in the companies for a couple of years too. Though the incident was not too shocking but the major cause of concern was that companies failed to conduct background checks but at the end of the day who should be blamed? We cannot even put the entire blame on the company since they employ thousands of employee and chances of error in background checks are always high.
A solution was impending for such a menace which was robbing legible candidates of a chance of employment and now it seems that the days of fake certificates and CVs are over in the Indian educational and corporate world. The first step in this process to get rid of fake certificates has been undertaken by the Hyderabad Central University which has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services for introducing RFID tagged degree certificates for its students. Definitely it seems to be a step in the right direction which is expected to curb the fake activities prevailing in the Indian educational and corporate world.
