RFID tags could be reused multiple times

There is nothing better than an RFID tag being reused multiple times which certainly brings down the costs associated with it and this is what study from Reusable Packaging Association states. It states that RFID tags created for single use in tracking shipping goods can withstand multiple journeys.

As a part of the study nine different EPC-compliant Gen 2 RFID tags were tested in the Michigan State University School of Packaging lab and best of the three were used for field trials. Here these tags were attached to 110 reusable plastic containers carrying produce. The cooled containers were loaded onto trucks for shipment to Wal-Mart stores and as a part of the 1,000 mile journey the tags were subjected to temperatures in the range of 32°F to 170°F apart from experiencing both wet and dry conditions. The tagged containers were handled several times during the shipping process. Reusable Packaging Association stated that at the end of the day the correct placement of the tags was important to ensure durability of the tags. If done correctly it could certainly bring down the costs associated with implementing RFID technology substantially.
