RFID ink- this is no ordinary stuff
This ink is expected to counter losses caused due to mad cow disease and it is not any ordinary ink but RFID ink which has been successfully tested by Somark Innovations. The RFID ink can be read through animal hairs and will be used for identification and tracking of cows in order to prevent losses due to mad cow disease scare.

This ink can be easily applied to the skin and tracked using RFID readers a few feet away. The company has not revealed the composition of the ink but it is being said that the ink is chemically inert and biocompatible. The ink does not contain any type of metal and it could be either colored or colorless.

It's quite easy to apply the ink and it takes just five to ten seconds for stamping an animal and there is no requirement for removing the hair. The ink does not cross the dermal layer and cam be read from as far as four feet. The RFID ink technology is an improvement over the ear tags which can be easily detached. It will help in detecting whether the meat is safe or not and the technology would be destroyed automatically when the meat is consumed. Besides cattle it could also be applied in the defense forces for tracking of soldiers during an operation.

Hopefully it will be able to put RFID ink to a number of uses for the benefit of mankind.
