RFID Chip to Measure Temperature of Pets
Your adorable pet falls ill and you don't know what to do and how to check his body temperature. Now you don't need to worry as Digital Angel Corp has been granted a patent for a syringe implantable microchip that uses RFID technology for determining the temperature of the host animal. This chip would enable non invasive monitoring of temperatures of dogs, cats, horses and livestock and also enable early detection of infectious disease such as bird flu.

Along with a passive transponder, sensor and integrated circuit it would be possible for someone with a scanner to determine the body temperature of an animal implanted with Bio-Thermo. These chips are currently available in Japan, Philippines and UK and the company has already started marketing these chips in the U.S. equine market and the chips would also be available for the companion animallinks market.

So next time your pet falls ill, you know that you have a doctor at home in the form of RFID.
