RFID Can Help In Controlling Fire
Fire is dangerous and no body knows this better than fire fighters who put their lives at risk to save people and property. In order to control fire it is important that it gets detected as quickly as possible otherwise if a fire spreads it becomes quite difficult to control it.

Realizing this Australian based company, Telepathx has come up with an RFID based sensor which would alert firefighters within minutes of a fire. The VRF sensor comprises of an active RFID chip which uses a proprietary air interface protocol and wireless thermal sensors. The sensor detect temperatures within two degrees of a pre decided setting and then activates the RFID tags which communicates the unique ID number to an interrogator called as Pinpoint Remote Transmission Unit or RTU. The tag ID is verified with the numbers stored in the RTU memory and a default message is sent to the mobile phone of the concerned person through the Telepathx Mobile Network.

This is a spin off of another product, firefighter which was launched by the company in late 2004 and was meant for companies which wanted to save their utility poles from bushfire which is a common phenomenon in Australia.

A few extra minutes can certainly help the firefighters to act before the fire becomes intense and cause damages beyond repair.
