RFID Analytics Company Signs Deal with P&G

Filed in archive Software Applications on May 19, 2005

T3Ci, a data Analytics company in the RFID space, recently signed a deal with Proctor & Gamble:
"Procter & Gamble has signed a five-year agreement with T3Ci, a Mountain View, Calif.-based startup that has created software for analyzing Electronic Product Code (EPC) data from radio frequency identification systems. The two companies will jointly develop new software applications that take advantage of EPC data throughout the supply chain."

This looks like an interesting company. T3Ci doesn't make tags or readers. Instead their software technology analyzes companies' EPC data on products as they move throughout the supply chain. T3Ci helps companies understand their supply chain data, such as tag read rates, cycle times, exact inventory levels, etc.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this business to me is their business model. The company sells a monthly data analysis subscription service. I happen to be a big fan of subscription services if they are done right, and I like this one. It sounds as if there is "art" as well as science involved in RFID data analytics, and a subscription-based service makes sense.

Hat tip to Jeff Nolan, one of the best venture capitalist bloggers out there. T3Ci happens to be one of his portfolio companies.
