RFID Acting As a Support for Senior Citizens
Filed in archive Implementation on June 4, 2006
Senior citizens at the Oatfield Estates have been wearing RFID badges which allow the officials entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of them to know actually where they are and what they are doing. The seniors are required to wear batches that signal to the dozens of infrared and radio frequency sensors inside the facility and outside on the grounds so that they can be tracked 365*7*24.
With the help of a computer one can track the persons and their activity. This was displayed by Lydia Lundberg and her husband Bill Reed who had flown from the assisted living facility they own in Oregon and came to Washington D.C. from the White House Conference on Aging.
It seems to be such a sweet gift for our elders who require most care when they grow old and RFID is providing them support when they require it the most.
