Reach your customers directly via RFID
Filed in archive Implementation on February 8, 2007
RFID certainly has a future in the advertising world and while most of the modes of advertising are getting crowded, RFID ensures that you reach out to your customers in your own special way. A startup in India, Consumer Vision is conducting a pilot in an unnamed retail store with its RFID based system. With this system the store will be able to connect with its customers in a more personal manner. This is how it works - customers carrying RFID cards or fobs are recognized by the system when they enter the store and they are informed about the various offerings and promotions going on at the store. The buying history of the customer will be taken into consideration before sending an offer to the customer of their interest. Not only SMS would be sent to the customers on their cellphones but even video screens would be deployed in order to attract the customer. The approval of the customers would be taken therefore privacy issues would certainly not spring up.
With stores being spread in huge spaces it becomes difficult to visit every nook and corner and at times one misses some of the mouth watering offers. This will not only save your time and effort but also give companies a chance to give a push to their businesses. The retail boom is already at its peak in India and RFID has emerged as an attractive option to tap customers. The success of RFID out here will surely increase the knowledge and acceptance of this technology among the masses too.
