Next time your car breaks down and the car mechanic cannot figure out as to which part needs servicing then he needs to use PROMISE. Is it some magic wand? Nope but an RFID based system which informs mechanics as to which car part needs fine tuning. Product Lifecycle Management and Information Tracking Using Smart Embedded Systems or PROMISE updates your car mechanic regarding the health of your car using electronic tags fitted inside the engine.

Wow!! That sounds really interesting. The job of a car mechanic would certainly become easy as the poor chap has to check hundreds of car parts each day in order to figure out which part is creating trouble, is error prone and consumes a lot of time too. This system is expected to add swiftness to the servicing procedure and even figure out as to which part can be reused or recycled when your vehicle is edging towards the end of its life. Even car companies will be able to collect useful data as to which of their parts need redesigning so that they can improve upon it. One more thing, in case you are fed up of your car and plan to send it to a junkyard and before it is sent to the gallows one could figure out as to which parts still have some life left in them so that they could be retrieved and put to some better use. I think that this system should be a part of every garage which would certainly make the life of mechanics easier as they would have to toil less for sure.
