ASK which a French contactless card and ticket provider is providing the paper tickets for the test.
Plastic PayPass cards already adorn over 46,000 PoS merchant terminals. Aimed at travel purposes these tickets could be put to a wide variety of other uses too. PVC-coated paper outlay, a 13.56 MHz rfid chip based on the ISO 14443 air-interface standard and silver ink antenna has been used for creating these disposable tickets.
This is expected to emerge as a low cost alternative to PayPass and targeted at people without credit cards. These tickets would be available at news stands and vending machine and work in a similar fashion as PayPass. This adds an additional form factor but it's still not sure as to when the paper tickets would make debut.
