Plastic PayPass cards already adorn over 46,000 PoS merchant terminals. Aimed at travel purposes these tickets could be put to a wide variety of other uses too. PVC-coated paper outlay, a 13.56 MHz RFID chip based on the ISO 14443 air-interface standard and silver ink antenna has been used for creating these disposable tickets.
This is expected to emerge as a low cost alternative to PayPass and targeted at people without credit cards. These tickets would be available at news stands and vending machine and work in a similar fashion as PayPass. This adds an additional form factor but it's still not sure as to when the paper tickets would make debut.
