Now Wearable RFID Sensors for detecting airborne chemical agents
Filed in archive Tags and Readers on November 20, 2009
First biodegradable RFID tags and latest on the anvil are wearable RFID sensors. GE Global Research will be developing wearable RFID sensors for alerting people in event of environmental chemical agents being present in the air. The sensor will be smaller than the size of a penny and could be operated without battery.
The wearable RFID sensor could also serve as a person’s breath analyzer and just breathing on it could pick up biomarkers indicating presence of diseases such as cancer, diabetes and other metabolic disorders.
The wearable RFID sensor system will be deploying innovative sensing approach using resonant antenna structures of RFID sensors coated with various sensing films which can pick up specific volatile organic compounds and chemical agents with part per billion detection limits.
