Realizing this, Viridis, a CNG dispenser company has developed an RFID system which ensures that the fuel cylinder of the vehicle meets safety and inspection standards before it is dispensed with gas.
This RFID system includes passive low frequency tags and interrogators along with a customized reader antenna designed into the fuel dispensing nozzle assembly along with a specialized software for managing the tag data.
In this case the tag is attached near the fueling valve of the vehicle and the software is entrusted with the job of controlling dispenser and collecting tag data so that it will only start dispensing fuel when the RFID tag is read. The tag data includes critical information such as vehicle owner's name, serial number of the vehicle, license plate number and the latest inspection date of the fuel cylinder so that only vehicles with authorized kits are dispensed with the fuel.
This system would be blessing in disguise in countries where people try to save money by not installing cylinders which are as per specifications and can be a cause of death and destruction.
