Now it's the turn of cars in India to get tagged

Filed in archive Tags and Readers by gautam on October 01, 2007

A friend of mine once told me it's easier to drive on F1 track as compared to roads of India and I believe that the Indian government overheard out conversation and as a result the Ministry of Heavy Industries is pondering over the idea of making it obligatory for all car manufacturers to affix RFID enabled devices in cars manufactured in India.

Now it's the turn of cars in India to get tagged

With motorists ready to violate traffic laws at the drop of hat in the country coupled with lack of men and machinery to tame them has made the government opt for this idea. Thus is expected to improve the traffic management system in the country as it would be easier to identify incidences of traffic violation on the roads and motorists entering toll area will be charged automatically. Does this mean reduced traffic violation incidences and increase in government? Let's see how far this system goes in taming down the rogue motorists in India who have been holding traffic laws to ransom for quite some time.
