The same company has gone ahead and come up with HyperScan which is a game system that combines card collecting and video gaming. This system is meant for children who prefer both forms of game. Now you all must be wondering why I am talking about gaming on a RFID blog. This is because HyperScan makes use of CD-ROM and RFID technology which brings together collector card games and video games together in a highly customizable system which combines re-writable Intellicard technology along with video games for the very first time in the history of video game space.
This is how it works. It works by enabling the players to scan their cards over the HyperScan console which would bring their favorite characters on the television screen and during the game players could pause and scan their collectible game cards over the console in order to upgrade, modify and enhance battle. After completion of the game, players could re-scan their cards and their winning powers would be permanently upgraded directly onto their Intellicard for use in future game play. It would be retailed for $ 69.9. Go, get it guys!!

I'm a 27yo who old ccg-er/rpg-er occasional video gamer. just bought the HyperScan system here's what i think.
good:
- the x-men game plays alot like Mortal combat 1, for those that are into classic arade gaming
-character building through exerience
- the RFID and USB technology and the low price may lead to alot of homebrew gaming/mods
the ok:
-the graphics are ok for the price (about that on n64)
- the concept of the RFID cards has a lot of potential is done right
the bad:
- you need to collect a fair number of cards to play. i bought 5 packs and i gave me an alright selection but i don't want to have to buy tons of packs to play all characters
- the X-men game is alright but the move selection is limited and the characters have one phrase each....
- the load time is horrendous about 30sec-1min between rounds (i will rolly attempt to upgrade the disk drive to fix this one)
overall: this system has potential for those liking the nostalgic / homebrew games (i.e not HALO) but buying the cards makes up to the low cost (but if these things are hackable?!?...) the biggest complaint is the load time.

The Hyperscan system is a prime example of toy manufacturers rushing products to the market. Great in concept, but woefully under developed and tested.
You are first treated to the numerous loading screens. Let me describe first playing the Ben 10 game. When you first start up the system, you must wait while the system first loads. After the first load screen, it recognizes the game disc and it treats you to the Ben 10 load screen. The Ben 10 game finally starts with the opening theme, you push start and you are treated to yet another loading screen.
I was expecting somewhat fluid game play like many of the flash based games on the internet. In fact I thought that maybe they had developed the content as flash, but instead the graphics where pixelated, dithered, and poorly animated. The reaction time of the controller was deplorable. I felt as though the game was reacting 1/3 second after I pushed a button on the controller.
The graphics and game play are no where near that of the N64?! The comparison is laughable. The N64 was an incredible system for its day.
My only positive comment is that the product is beautifully packaged and designed. If only the developers had put that extremely level of detail into testing and developing the games themselves.
Do not waste your money on this product! It is well packaged garbage!
