Manila looking to ease traffic congestion with RFID

Traffic is the biggest problem in most of the developing countries where the major cities face the brunt of the growing population as the existing infrastructure is not equipped to handle it. public transport is generally in shambles in these places but Manila in Philippines is all set to change this as RFID would be implemented in more than two thousand buses out there to put an end to traffic woes. Commuting short distances in developing countries can at times take hours but all this may change for the better with the usage of technology in traffic management.

Using RFID bus queues will be monitored electronically and it will help in weeding out the non licenses buses which could be a threat to the lives of commuters. It would also be possible to keep a tab on the time a bus takes at the terminal to load and unload the passengers so that the drivers and operators could be trained in case they lack time management skills. At the end of the day it would prevent several buses from plying on the roads at the same time which generally leads to traffic congestion. My advice to other developing nations is that they must also take cue from Philippines and try and implement RFID to ensure better traffic management in their cities too.
