LadyBag- The RFID Purse for Ladies
A team of six women at the Simon Fraser University have created a new kind of fabric purse which can detect its contents and alert the owner in case something is missing. The Ladybag is meant for young professional woman who are prone to leave their house without house keys, cell phone and other stuff.

The team which comprised of Human Zaidi, Jenny Vi, Lillian Tam, Mesina, Nasrin Roya and Lillian Tam developed the idea as a part of their course project.

According to Ginny Mesina, team member, Simon Fraser University:

We are a group of six women on the team. We came up with the bag idea because we thought that all of us would use it.

The students embedded a RFID reader into the bottom of the bag which was powered by a nine volt battery. The reader was wired to a screen like panel in the front of the bag which has three patterns of light emitting diodes. Each pattern represents an essential item that the owner of the purse does not want to leave home without. In this purse it includes a wallet, set of keys and a cell phone. An RFID sensor has also been attached to these items. When the items are missing from the Ladybag, the corresponding icon lights up and when the items are placed back in the purse, the icon blinks off.

This is what Rosanna Kilfedder, a master degree candidate at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland had to say:

I always forget my phone, but always remember my handbag. This is a great solution

The Ladybag is positioned for the 20 something woman but another version has been designed for the teenager segment. The team has plans to get the Ladybag patented.

Hey ladies!! Why don't you design a RFID briefcase for men, even we are of a forgetful nature.
