Japan to Adopt RFID in Passports
Filed in archive Implementation on January 12, 2006

Konomi at the RFID in Japan blog reports that Japan has joined the countries planning to implement RFID chipped passports:
"On December 22, 2005, the japanese government formally decided that they will issue RFID passports for all passport applications submitted after March 20, 2006."
Also, someone over at Wikipedia is attempting to assemble a list of countries implementing RFID in passports, although it is not complete. As of this writing it lists the United States, Norway, Malaysia, and New Zealand.
