Remember Mikey Sklar and the Faraday cage pants? Back in October 2005 I wrote about him and his experimental project in "Building a Faraday Cage in Clothing to Shield RFID Tags."

Well, Mikey's at it again. This time he had a surgeon friend implant an RFID tag in his hand.

Now before you go "Eeeeewww" just keep in mind that implanting an RFID tag is probably no more invasive than some other things I can think of, like lip studs and full-sleeve tattoos and navel rings. In fact, Mikey told me in an email that he did not feel the tag when it was being implanted nor afterwards.

If you go over to his website, Electric Clothing, Mikey has a little video of the whole implantation procedure. He is giving a talk at the DorkBot meeting next week on the subject. He even was kind enough to email me a link to his slides that describe supplies you would need in order to implant RFID tags (warning: 9MB PDF file), including a comparison of tags and readers by different manufacturers. Just in case you were wondering....
