Indian Railways looks at RFID for its recruitment process
Filed in archive Implementation by gautam on December 10, 2008
Up till now RFID was being put to use in marathons and other sporting events but now the same technology is being deployed by Indian Railways, one of the largest employers in the world for hiring process of its employees. The Railway Recruitment Board will be replacing manual conduct with RFID for conducting physical efficiency test for hiring of non gazetted subordinate staff.

For this type of employment it is mandatory for both male and female candidates to run 1500 and 400 metres respectively within stipulated time and in order to prevent any kind of influence in hiring of employees the baton will be passed on to RFID which will ensure that prospective employees are recruited in a fair manner.

The Railway Recruitment Cell has already got the nod from the Ministry of Railways for using RFID in the hiring process and in order to make this possible an expression of interest has been sought from vendors in this regard.

If implemented this would not only make railway recruitment process transparent but also generate business for RFID Companies.
