Hyundai's Doorcap Smart Lock to Enhance Security
Filed in archive Implementation on April 7, 2006
Now continuing with the security aspect, Hyundai has come up with Doorcap Smart lock which enables one to lock the door and throw away the keys but one would be requiring one of the six provided RFID pass cards for gaining entry.
There is also a hidden number pad to enter the PIN code if one doesn't have the passcard. It raises an alarm if somebody happens to break in and it re-locks itself if one unlocks it and then for some reason don't open the door.
The keypad would be enough but I believe that the RFID card would provide an extra layer of security. The Doorcap Smart is available for $249. Try it out if you want to make your home a lot safer.
Given below are the features that I found at gadgethome:
-Digital Door Lock with 2 convenient usage modes
RFID Passcard [6 provided]
Pin Code
-Stylish and Modern design
-Automatic/Manual Locking Modes Configurable
-Automatic Re-Locking if not opened
-Internal Forced Lock when family is home
-External Forced Lock to prevent unauthorized opening through mail slot
-Loud Alarm Function in event of break- in
-Durable Rim Lock System
-Hidden Sliding Cover for Number Pad
-Battery Change Notification
-Emergency Temporary Power Supply through 9V battery
-Non-erasure of Key/PIN during Battery Change [Stored in ROM]
