Hybrid2 Bike: Generate power and get free bus rides
On earlier occasions I have told you about various RFID bike sharing programs. Check here, here and here and you must be wondering another bike sharing program?? Not again!! Just relax people as the bike sharing program I am talking about is something which makes an addition to the already existing concept of RFID bike sharing program and contributes to the environment around us. Hybrid2 is the brainchild of Chiyu Chen who is using the concept of bikes to bring back power in the system. This is a solar powered bike equipped with RFID chip readers and Ultra capacitors which has been attached to bikes for harnessing and storing kinetic energy generated as a result of pedaling and braking. On returning the bike to the rental kiosk, the energy generated will be transferred to the smart grid of the city and used for powering hybrid buses.

For people who say that they are not interested in such kind of 'social service', let me tell you these bikes come with handlebars displaying energy generated for the distance covered and depending on the energy generated by you a free voucher is issued for your next bus ride. I feel it's a really nice idea to bring back people and environment back into shape and I hope it clicks with the masses pretty soon.
