Here is a chip which can sense humidity, gas and temperature
Filed in archive Tags and Readers by gautam on December 21, 2007
This is being considered as a revolution for semiconductor technology!! Here is this patent pending technology from Chipsensors which would enable the surface of the chip to sense factors such as humidity, temperature, pathogens and certain gases.

Here is a chip which can sense humidity, gas and temperature

This technology works on the basis that dielectric material consists of porous oxides and polymers and any changes in electrical characteristics could be sensed without any error. Up till now major sensors were manufactured on glass or ceramic substrate which used to pose difficulties but all this is expected to change with this proprietary technology as it would enable sensors, RF transceiver functions and signal conditioning circuits along with microcontroller and memory to be integrated on a single chip.

In case you are planning to visit RFID Europe 2007 don't forget to stop at Booth No. 17 to see the visual demonstration of prototype single-chip temperature and humidity sensor.
