CryptoRF: World's First RFID device with embedded cryptographic engine

Filed in archive Companies on December 4, 2007

You need this to fight counterfeiters!! Amtel has come up with CryptoRF which it calls the world's first 13.56 MHz RFID device with 64-bit embedded cryptographic engine, sixteen individually configurable zones and mutual authentication capability. If you go through the figures of counterfeit products seized in 2007 you will be pretty shocked since they stand at a whopping $600 billion and CryptoRF could be one of the solutions for plugging it. In this case unique signatures are created depending upon information which is neither transmitted nor allowed to be accessed by anyone. If the company is to be believed then its really difficult to copy CryptoRF tags.

So in which all areas could CryptoRF be used? It can be used in areas where counterfeiting is quite high such as pharma sector, high value consumer items, software etc. With a 64-bit embedded hardware cryptographic engine having 64Kbit keys they are totally inaccessible and chances of a fake device creating a similar cryptogram is about one in a quintillion!! Each device has its own set of authentication keys offering uniqueness to it. In case you are interested in CryptoRF devices you can purchase it for $0.75 for 25,000 units.
