Connection Cushion: The RFID Connection between your friends

I always thought cushions were used for offering support to your neck but how about creating a connection between two people using it? Now this is what Tim Olden aims to realize with his Connection Cushion project.

Here RFID Reader is used in a cushion which enables people to connect on the spot using physical objects. All you need to do is hold your RFID badge on the cushion so that you can create an instant connection with people of your liking in the PICNIC network but how you will get to know whether the other person is equally interested or not? This can be achieved by inclusion of glowing lights, vibrations or audio sounds which would confirm your friendship from the other end. Seems to be a novel method of connecting with friends but whether it will be able to create an impact on the social networking scene still needs to be studied.
