Casinos find a safe bet in RFID
Filed in archive Implementation by gautam on October 10, 2008
The game of casino still remains the same for the gamblers but it has definitely started to change for casino owners who are now heavily relying on technology to make sure it runs in a 'proper' manner.

Casinos are attaching RFID tags to gaming chips to keep a track on what all is happening on the casino table. Gamblers at the table get to know how much they are winning or losing but for the casino it becomes difficult to track their revenue stream.

Using RFID technology has benefited casino owners in several ways:

• It has offered them protection against any form of internal fraud or counterfeiting

• Improved their relations with guests

• Better control over revenue stream

A computer is used for monitoring of activities as the RFID system can track 1,000 chips per second offering real time information. With number of casinos offering jackpots, bonuses and rewards the system has even made it easier to attract new customers and maintain its existing loyal base. Even though this RFID gaming chip costs $2 per piece but the good news is that casinos will definitely be able to break even within six months of their investment!!
