Bermuda set to undertake the largest implementation of RFID technology in vehicles

of Bermuda was in news for playing in World Cup Cricket 2007 which is a less popular sport in this part of the world but now it is in news again for what could be the largest implementation of RFID in automobiles in the country as of now. Now each and every vehicle in the country would be needed to be equipped with RFID tag. This electronic vehicle registration system consisting of vehicle-mounted transmitters and portable and stationary readers is expected to bring down the number of non compliant vehicles on the road below one percent and also recover fines worth $11 million which would have otherwise never reached the coffer. Under the system every registered vehicle in the country would be assigned a unique identification number which would be fed in the centralized vehicle database and they will be receiving a RFID embedded windshield sticker which would send information back to the database.
Bermuda has the world's highest density per square mile of motor traffic therefore this system would really come to the rescue of the traffic department and those of you who feel that it could be a privacy threat need not worry as the authorities would only be tracking vehicle information. So incase you are driving in Bermuda don't mess on its roads otherwise a ticket awaits you.
