In order to prevent unauthorized access to data in case it gets stolen a U.K based company has unveiled a laptop protection system dubbed as BackStopp which will automatically wipe out hard disk data in case the notebook gets stolen from authorized locations.
The Virtuity BackStopp servers keep a tab on the laptop and if it gets stolen from its authorized position the system deletes all the important information from it. In case the laptop is stolen in switched off position RFID tags are used to judge whether the movement was within the permissible parameters and in case that's not the case it will delete the important data and on completion of the process the complete log of deletions will be sent to the service center. In case a laptop has a webcam BackStopp can even capture images of the thieves without their knowledge and enable them to nab them easily. All this protection is available for $19 per month for a single laptop.
