2009 may not turn out to be as bad for RFID as you might think

The world economy is depressed and most of the sectors are in red and if you would ask any expert he would point out that immediate future doesn't look good either.
But if we consider the words of ABI Research then this might not hold true for the RFID sector. Even if we include the automotive sector the market for RFID is expected to clock growth at 11% between 2009 and 2010 and on the other hand if we exclude it the growth rate is expected to hover around 16%. This definitely does not seem bad considering other sectors being in negative at the moment.
The areas where we could expect RFID to contribute are asset management, baggage handling, contactless payments, contactless ticketing, electronic identification documents, item level tracking in fashion apparel and footwear and real time location systems.
Now it seems 2009 may not be as bad at least for RFID as one was expecting.

I totally agree I also think that Healthcare is recession proof too. We have seen a small rise in healthcare requests and are hoping to continue via this route.
